Parade Rules & Indemnity

Versailles/Woodford County/Midway | Fourth of July Celebration
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY JUNE 28th
  • All floats and trailer accompanied by people or animals must have adults walking on each side.
  • Adults must be on floats with children.
  • Children from audience & children walking or riding bike in parade may not be placed on a float, truck
or any vehicle during the parade unless there is an emergency.
  • Children may not be removed from a float while it is in motion.
  • No person riding on a float may disembark until the parade is completely over. Children riding in the 
back of pickup trucks must sit behind the trucks rails or sides at all times. Trucks must have closed tailgates or enclosed backs. No 18-wheel tractor-trailer-trucks allowed.
  • Each pulled entry must have a spotter in the cab other than the driver. The spotter will watch the 
rear for any problems. If an entry has no cab, the spotter must be beside the entry. No passengers
 or riders are allowed on farm machinery, other than the operator.
  • During parade lineup, police and designated volunteers will check valid driver’s licenses and liability insurance. Float drivers must be 18 or older. Any motorized vehicle entered must be driven by 
licensed drivers only. 
  • All floats and trailers pulled by tractors or trucks must have wheel guards on rear wheels.
  • Fire trucks in the parade will only carry passengers in the cab, not on the top or sides of the vehicle.
  • No parade participant may ride with feet hanging over the side of the entry.
  • Only terrain vehicles used by parade officials or those pulling entries are allowed.
  • No parade participant will be allowed to have a loaded firearm at any time.
  • Entries must proceed at a steady movement, maintaining 20 to 30 feet distance between each entry. 
  • Entries experiencing difficulty must move to the side of the street, so others may pass.
  • No candy or treats may be thrown from any entry. Candy may be passed out along the parade route, but not thrown.

​HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT
The City of Versailles, a municipal corporation organized under the laws of the State of Kentucky, is the sponsor of the Fourth of July Parade.  The undersigned agrees to assume all risks associated with said parade, that they will not hold the City or its organizers liable for any loss, damage and/or actions the undersigned sustains by participation in the parade, and will indemnify, defend and hold the City of Versailles and its sponsors, volunteers and organizers harmless for any loss the City may occasion by the virtue of their participation thereof, including any liability due to the possible City or sponsor negligence. I have read the City of Versailles Parade rules and agree to follow them. I understand that failure to follow these rules could result in the termination of the parade and my participation in this and future parades in the City of Versailles, KY.
